Decoupage shells with paper napkins for the Chintz look
My mother has drawers full of beautiful paper napkins. She's a garden club fanatic and loves to host her garden club friends for luncheons. This is great, but it also leaves her with MANY beautiful unused napkins. I kept looking at those dainty, printed papers wondering what I could do with them...until that serendipitous day on Pinterest when I caught the idea of putting them on shells! Now my mother is relieved of her excess napkins and I have a new obsession.
Pick a shell, any shell but the less spiky the better, I've learned. Smooth is good

Measure the paper to (roughly) fit the shell.
Cover the shell with modge podge or white glue. Carefully place the paper over the shell and GENTLY smooth the wrinkles out. If you are too rough you will tear the paper and need a do-over.
After the paper in on the shell, smooth down with a little bit more MP or glue. The glue can be diluted 3:1 with water. Be careful as it's easy to rip the paper at this stage. It takes about 5 to 12 hours to dry depending on the weather.
It's fun to experiment with all kinds of different shells and papers. I'm planning on doing more and will post new pics as I make them.
